2nd 1/2 marathon in two days, this one on trail. Such a muddy race! Only hit the deck once and came out none the worse for wear.

Ran Grete's Great Gallop (13.1 miles) on Satuday morning in 1:30:40 and ran a loop before hand (5.84 miles) in 40:01; so although I'm not back to 100% I'm getting there. NYC marathon is about a month away - that leaves about 3 weeks of training to go.

took the weekend off (except a mile with my daughter). Its beautiful out today. Will hit 7 today on the easy trail.
Will go to the secret spot later in the week and see if I can run the whole loop again.
I think I need a new pair of road shoes.
The Kinvara's work well, but I think I want to try something else out.
Any ideas on a light weight shoe that has between a 4-8 mm heel drop?
Im looking at the Inov8 road line.

how about the NB 1400 flat - It is like a lighter 890 with less drop, and it comes in a pretty slick color-way. Also the Brooks "Pure Project" shoes are getting a lot of press, but I haven't tried em on yet so I cant speak to their quality. Asics also just released a new shoe that fits the bill but I can't remember what its called for the life of me.

Rolled through 15 easy yesterday at about 7 min pace. 6 days til my half.

edit - also Congrats mylesmyles and about11 for your races. Are you both running NY? I am planning on running the 2012 edition and can't wait.

How about the Brooks Green Silence? It has a 8mm drop. There are also a number of road/XC flats that might fit the bill too. I'm a big fan of runningwarehouse.com if you haven't used them yet.

Last week, ran 6 out of 7 days for about 35 miles. First time in several months I had a decent week. 5.4 miles this morning in the dark.

Did 6 at an increased pace (7:45 MM), in my Kinvaras, at a faster pace, they feel great. At a slower grinder pace, they kind of suck.
Im gonna try the Brooks Pure road shoes I think along with some of the Inov8 road X.
    I love runningwarehouse.com.
Plus, if you find a code for a running club, you get an additional 15% off.

MP--Super job. Takes a lot to rebound from feeling poorly to beat your goal so soundly. Give yourself a well-deserved R&R.

26.2mi yesterday. Slower than hoped for, but a beautiful day on a beautiful course in Twin Cities.

I use my son's HS team code and 15% is much needed as I'm buying shoes all the time for me and him (plus wife and daughter). Even better is the next day delivery in California. Good luck with your next shoe purchase and I'm envious of the trails you get to run....

4.5 mi this morning. It was great to run outside again, in my own neighborhood. It was cold, and I felt awful because of a sleepless night (jet lagged).
