5 miles this morning, slow again, felt sluggish, on the dread mill.
I cant earn my fitness back....
long run workout today -
4 miles @ 6:40 pace 1 mile at 7:30/ 4 miles @ 6:10 pace/1 mile 7:30/ 2 miles 6:30 pace/ 3 mile cool down.
15 total, about 86 for the week.
14.5 miles. Warm up and half marathon on a winding hilly course. A day ago temps dropped from hot/humid to chilly/windy (I'm not complaining...) Didn't feel like I loosened up for the entire distance. Even so, still placed in my age group, which always helps. Hope everybody's Labor Day runs were good ones.
After days of stifling heat and humidity, it was chilly and windy. Temps in the 50s. Hope it stays this way. 6 mile run.
I started the day off with a 6 mile run at about 5:00 a.m. this morning. Does anybody here run with a headlamp? It late enough in the year now that it's still dark out when I start and finish my morning runs and each year I consider getting a headlamp but never have. Suggestions?
I ran at 5:30 this morning in the dark. There are dimly lit street lamps, but in some places it's really pitch black. It was chilly for my 4.5 miles this morning.
I run the Madison WI to Chicago 200-mi relay each year in June and that includes a leg at night. Headlamps, safety vests and strobes are required equipment. Petzl makes a range of excellent products at various price points. I have a TACTIKKA XP /www.petzl.com/us/outdoor/headlamps/tactikka-series/tactikka-xp> that's comfortable, bright, and gets it done at night while racing on paths in the Wisconsin woods. Hope that helps.
I run in the early morning darkness for most of the year and never got use to wearing a headlamp. I carry a very small LED flashlight that is waterproof and has a clip so I can attach it to my waistband when it gets lighter out...
To MICHIGAN PLANNER: I run around 5:30 a.m. always with my trusty LL Bean Trailblazer headlamp.
10K at around 10 min/mile. during the run, i checked the temperature and my iPhone read 91. i had to walk for about 1/4 mile when i started mile 6. i think i would qualify for the Darwin Awards today.
people that compete in the Badwater run are fucking badass. (or just really really stupid)
5 on monday untimed with another 5 today in 37:30
10 tonight with hill repeats. Not long but fast.
Yesterday was my first day off in a few weeks . . .
Temperature: 54 degrees PERFECT running weather. Ran 4 miles in under 25 minutes this a.m. No better way to start the day.
Thanks to those that suggested some headlamps. I have a gift card to LL Bean so I may give that one a shot. I've tried carrying a small LED flashlight before and it wasn't for me - I like having my hands free.
Sounds like my run... except the 25 minute part. My 4 miles took about 30 minutes. I love the weather this time of year.
