6 and a quarter for me tonight. I hurt one of my buddies by driving the pace, which is always fun

4 miles this morning. Temperature, 6 degrees. But no wind. Somewhere, I read that applying Vaseline gel on the cheeks helps diminish the sting of the cold. Maybe it is a placebo, but I think it works. I've been doing TRX/kettlebell training for about a month, and I can see an improvement in my endurance and speed when running.

45 minutes at 7:15 pace. 8 out of 10 on incline....I think im ready to hit outside again. Lungs are better.
Still 0 carbs but felt awesome today, so perhaps I broke my metabolisim.

I cannot imagine a world without carbs. Inconceivable. Much respect for forgoing them and continuing with solid miles.
Workout tonight, 10.5 miles total
2 mile warm up on the track, then
4 x 1 mile in 5:30, 5:29, 5:33, 5:32. W/ 45 seconds recovery. The pace was not too tough to keep up, so I think I will go for a sub 5:30 pace in my next 5k.
4.5 mile cool down.
I am feeling really beat, tomorrow will definitely be an easy day.

8 miles this morning in a warm-ish humid morning. 59:59

Playlist:

J. Monae - Tightrope
Nirvana - Stay Away
Bob Dylan - Tangled Up in Blue
Joan Jett - Love is All Around
John Frusciante - Dark Light
Goo Goo Dolls - Stay With You
Green Day - American Idiot
Eric Johnson - Righteous (live)
The Clash - Brand New Cadillac
The Clash - Wrong 'Em Boyo
Fugazi - Waiting Room (live)
Arcade Fire - Sprawl (Flatland)
Metallica - That Was Just Your Life
Morrissey - I'm Ok By Myself
Melanie C - Ga Ga

fwiw, I'm removing Metallica off the ipod since I'm not responding to it like I used to. Now it kinda brings me down.

Cranked out 7.85 miles in 52:21 this morning in Cenral Park. Ran in my new NB 890's. Super cushy and light. Very pleased with them after my first run in them.

put 8.8 behind me today in a little over an hour.
ran in my speedstars instead of my mana's and found it easier to run a mellow pace.

its an experiment. I had some viral issue that hit my lungs, so running outside would have led to some real issues.
With that said, ive been wondering if I could convert my metabolisim over to prefering fats as fuel opposed to glycogen.
Its not a success, I really havent tested a run over 10 miles.
I will do this tomorrow.
I have gotten faster and my PF is in check finally.

Progression Long Run . . . .
Decided I would push either 10 or 11 mile progression and follow that up with a cool down on the way home. There is a nice nature reserve near my house along the Santa Ana river where there is a one mile looped trail where I ran the final 8 of my progression. All in all the run was a success and I relaxed enough on the cool down to push a sub 6:30 final mile. Here are the splits
1\t00:07:03\t1.00\t07:03
2\t00:06:58\t1.00\t06:58
3\t00:06:57\t1.00\t06:57
4\t00:06:51\t1.00\t06:51
5\t00:06:50\t1.00\t06:50
6\t00:06:47\t1.00\t06:47
7\t00:06:42\t1.00\t06:42
8\t00:06:37\t1.00\t06:37
9\t00:06:31\t1.00\t06:31
10\t00:06:24\t1.00\t06:25
11\t00:06:15\t1.00\t06:15
cool down:
12\t00:07:34\t1.00\t07:34
13\t00:07:23\t1.00\t07:23
14\t00:07:03\t1.00\t07:03
15\t00:06:29\t1.00\t06:29
16\t00:00:05\t0.01\t07:13
The area I ran is a bird sanctuary and I saw some interesting avian species along the way, although I can hardly tell a swan from a duck without my glasses on.
Very happy with this weeks mileage.
I am headed to Mammoth lakes on tuesday to snowboard but I will try and find Meb and the Mammoth track club out on the roads.
