What gear should I wear to run out in NYC winter weather?
i just use the runnersworld "what should I wear" guide: http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/what...-0-0-0,00.html [IMG] its worked great for me. the only thing is that they'll have you wearing shorts even in 30º-35ºF weather, which can work when you get really warmed up , but sometimes its better just to be covered. as for shoes I run in my regular running shoes with merino wool socks (i use the darn tough cushioning socks that are thicker if its less than 20ºF and the normal mesh wool versions above into summer time. if its a NYRR race then i'll break out the shorts even if its freezing (because of all the people around you its actually warmer - like in a packed sports stadium during wintertime ) the races are only in the 4mile-10k range anyways.

Dude, hit me up if you wanna run, we're neighbors for chrissakes! I wear a winter underarmour baselayer, then two thin Nike drill top type tops. If its below 40 I'll generally be in tights too.

Did 7 miles yesterday by the water, was freakin freezing running into that wind on the way home...wear glasses when its windy, keeps your eyes warm.

For winter running (Chicago area, on the lake), I wear:
    Mid-weight tights
    Compression boxers
    Darn Tough Merino wool socks
    Nike Running shorts
Long sleeve zip next North Face mid-weight polypro shirt
Running vest (Either North Face, Saucony, or Zoot)
If its really cold, I will wear a fleece vest
If its below zero, I wear a soft shell jacket
Either Nike fleece or thin running gloves
Depending on where I am running, either my Kinvaras or North Face fireroad shoes.

I do not like to over dress as I know after a mile or two I will be warm enough. If its windy, it gets tricky to nail what to wear. I do not like to take layers off.

Anyhow, today, I ran 3.5 miles @ 8% grade on the treadmill.....6.5 (8:30 min mile-ish) mph. My lungs needed another day inside. I have to say, that this treadmill workout was sick hard.

If you are running to lose weight, then why not just eat less food and not run at all, instead of eating the food and running off the weight. The first option saves you money from buying less food, and time, by not having to spend it running.

Today, I did not run, but I walked to my company, so it was also a long way.

Just pretty normal training but had an actual workout today in preparation for the meet this weekend. Don't want to say much for fear of cursing my meet before it happens but I'm very very pleased with my workout.

Good to see everyone has been pretty good at keeping up the running. This weather has been pretty crazy but it looks to be warming up here later this week!
