And that, my friend, is why I've been doing the treadmill these last few days. [IMG]

I've tried and I can't handle it, I too dislike those who don't clear the sidewalks. There were several businesses who had 12+" of snow on the sidewalks, asking for lawsuits imo.

Tried out my screw shoes today, they worked wonderfully. I'd go 3/8" sheet metal screws if they had them but 1/2" seemed to work. My shoes are extremely worn already so 1/2" wouldn't cause any problems on a fresher pair.

12/29/2010 - 12.2 miles in 82 minutes, actually really surprised that I've been around 6:40s despite the snow/ice I encounter. Time will tell if this translates into some decent races.

Planning on running a fun run on the 31st with my father. Should be good as I haven't ran with him yet.

Nice 5 mile run tonight. Temperature at 40 degrees. A heat wave! The snow and ice are starting to melt. Cold weather is supposed to return next week.

It's December 31st and the temperature is in the low 40s. The snow and ice has melted away. There is pavement, again, upon which to run. I can wear shorts and a light long-sleeved shirt. Unbelievable. But, this is Michigan; it won't last.

    Happy New Year.

17 miles exploring the Nati, from Clifton across bridges, Devou Park (discovered some cool steps that go straight up from underneath it) and around Northern Kentucky and back. Gorgious night!

I hope everyone enjoys New Years Eve and is safe!

12/31/2010 - 20 up, 10x min. hills on treadmill, first 9 at 12% incline at 11 mph last one at 12 mph. 20 down.

Indoor track was closed earlier than I expect so I had to modify my 10x400 to the treadmill. It was brutal and I got butt lock, hah.

I may run tonight for 30 min. to bring in the new year, no parties for me because I'm lame.

ran the midnight NYRR run at central park. it was actually a huge well organized 4mile fun run/party/costume party. the best part is it was my last qualifier for the (9+1program) for the NYC Marathon and I receive my automatic entry to the NYC marathon for 2011 (first marathon too - if i don't try one before November). I ran this with my wife, and just jogged our way to the finish. The dirty secret is if you're doing the 9+1 program, they don't even time or keep track of this race or participants (you get a bib but no time sensor) so if you register you can just not show up/run. the schwag was nice, long sleeve nice shirt, socks, snacks, and a huge firework show (that lasted almost 35 min - the whole run!). over 5000 ran [IMG] fireworks started after the countdown to midnight- and lasted almost into my 3rd mile [IMG] it was a huge costume party too: [IMG][IMG] i guess the only knock on the race was that there was only one hydration station at mile 1.5.. and they also served champaign tons of champaign... lol... so everyone kinda just stopped and started drinking heavily... as you can guess people started puking by mile 3. now I got to figure out how I'm going to train for the NYC marathon.

LOL, awesome, I was asleep by 9:30 last night. But got out and did 5.5 careful miles. Roads were a WRECK, and the path I usually run wasn't cleared, but there were plenty of birds out looking! [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

If you are running to lose weight, then why not just eat less food and not run at all, instead of eating the food and running off the weight. The first option saves you money from buying less food, and time, by not having to spend it running.
