Oh, I thought that the house was YOUR house! And, we are all invited over. [IMG] Nice trails.

    I wish!

IT was the main estate house for Elwa Farms, cool history here.
Anyhow, its a true savanah with restored forests.

I just wish there were more hills.

After a weekend of manual labor, I took Monday off and got back into it Tues. Still not fully recovered and woke up way too early today, but knocked out 8 in 1:02:40

About 4.5 miles in 41:00... I also registered for the LA Marathon in March, my 2nd. It'll be an interesting build up.

Got about two miles in tonight doing alternating sprints (missed my morning run today). Last one ended with me stepping off an unseen break in the pavement and landing on the side of my foot. crunch. [IMG]

Finally managed to limp home but I've got a couple of weird swollen areas on my foot and ankle.
Hoping they'll go down in the night. [IMG]

4.5 yesterday, have to get a short run in before hitting the road today.
Have a 7.5 mile race tomorrow.
Will finally have access to lots of hills.

ugh: 5.3 miles, but on the last loop my legs felt leaden and I walked for a bit. 42 minutes or so.

Think it'd be possible for me to begin training for the NY marathon next year? I'm a relatively in shape guy 5'10 170 pounds 12ish% bf, but I have difficulty with long distance running. I work out quite consistently (3-4 times a week alternating between weights and cardio - which is usually eliptical).

I participated in 1 race (10k) a couple years ago and it took me 59 minutes (lots of elderly women surpassed me [IMG] )

Think it's feasible if I begin training now? Much of the running would have to be indoors and on a treadmill as it is winter here.

    First post on this thread.

I ran 7.1 miles at a 9:33 pace. Had to stop at a few lights.

It was warm and humid out today- around 80 with no wind. I've heard there's a season called fall, but it hasn't come yet.

Marathon training is possible, but you have to commit to it. A successful marathon comes from serious base miles. Long runs that allow your body to adapt, and become more proficient at performing for 26 miles.

I would recommend the book Run Less, Run Faster. The book has great marathon training plans that only have you running 3 days a week. The key is cross training on the off days.

Be realistic in your finish time. Too may set too high of a goal for their first marathon, which will almost always guarantee failure. Running in the winter will be tough, treadmill running is monotonus.

Good luck with it. Also remember that New York is by lottery invite, unless you do a prescribed number of other races that the N.Y. Roadrunners sponsor.
