The last six miles of any marathon demonstrate why this is a problem. I keep a 60 mpw but would like to step it up to 70-80 to try and smoke the surf city marathon this february (I ran a 3:32 last year there)
1 mile roughwater swim today- feels good to give the legs a little rest.

    +1
Great time at Surf City - I also ran it last year. I was on pace through mile 22 for a 3:48 finish, but bonked hard the last four miles and came crawling in at 4:09. My base was 35-40 mpw. I've now kicked up my mileage to 50-55 per week. I'm hoping this will help me to come in ~3:45 in Long Beach in October.

8 miles tonight in a little over 57 minutes. Felt like a pretty easy pace to which is a good sign I guess. Trying to build up to about 60mpw for a half marathon sometime in October after only running about 25-30mpw for the last few months.

6 miles this morning in about 46 minutes. Legs felt like there was no bounce, probably from my run last night and not really being used to running so soon after waking up.

Hmmm I am trying to decide between the Eco Marathon, Long Beach or the Santa Barbara marathon. you should crush LB with a 50 mile plus base.

Another 2.6 but much faster than earlier this week. I really need to increase my mileage...I'm at around 15 mpw.

4.5 miles today after a week w/o running.

Love how there's a lightness in the step and a song in the heart after 3 milesish.

A few weeks ago I ran in Manhattan alongside the Hudson River from 125th street down to south ferry. How far would you reckon that to be? It took me around 2 hours when all was said and odne.

this is a great website to track your running distance and calories burned, as well as elevation. Just enter your starting zip - code and hit start recording. (if you go off road, you can select 'record manually' which will let you approximate your path.
