How many miles did you run today?

Very slow and not-very-long run today, but that's what happens when you're building a foundation, starting again (again)...

14.6km (9 miles) in 1:26:21 (5:55/km or 9:31/mile).

It shouldn't have been as slow as this. It was dirt and gravel and I picked the wrong shoes - decided to run in my trail racing shoes (which are like hard slippers LOL) and really I needed something more forgiving at this stage.

Yesterday, my first group ride with friends of friend. 3.9 miles down to meeting point, 2 laps around the park (12.18 miles), and 4.69 miles the long way home after brunch.

35 minutes of yoga for ultimate frisbee players this morning.

When yall say building a base, are u referring to just putting down long flowy runs?
Im finally getting back into it after a long time off due to a frontal shin stress fracture (dreaded black line). Been running 3 - 4 milers the last couple years in kramer shoes (lots if padding) and on cinder. Finally decided to break away for some longer runs and my body is holding up! I had a little pain at first but weirdly its actually feeling better than when i started. i wonder if the brain rewires for pain or something? Anyhow im excited. Want to get my times down. Curious of strategies. Thanks

I don't know what other people mean by it, but I interpret it as a reliable minimum distance or a pace that you can do any day.

Building base miles typically refers to building your run mileage up to decent training mileage and not doing any speedwork. For much of late summer and fall I wasn’t running more than once or twice per week because of the smoke.

For now, I’m keeping my pace at easy pace and slowly building my mileage up.

This morning, I ran 4.8 miles on the local gravel trails. Temps are in the low 60s, and we’re heading for a low of 17. There’s even snow in the forecast for later this week!
