My guess is SB thought he had more time. Easy ride then decided to ramp it up after dinner was done early. 45min of work condensed into 30min.
Initially I couldn’t figure out how to make Sufferfest increase the wattage, so I just started the recovery ride at the indicated low level. After being bored for a bit, I realized I could switch out of erg mode into level and ride as hard as I wanted. But boredom led me to do some half-ass intervals. :)

I was looking at a house that popped up on the market nearby and I think I found @Dusty Heaters running shoe room:

I got in 8.4 miles yesterday afternoon. I dodged 2 little snakes on the path. One bright green one I almost landed on and another brown one that came flying out of the bushes to cross over. Neither were likely poisonous but I am not a snake person. Morning temps are in the 50s/60s so weekend morning runs should be nice.

^ If it makes you feel any less inadequate, I was nosy and looked up the owner of the house. Apparently it’s owned by the guy who started StockX so this those shoes are probably just “research” or a tax write-off or something.

20 miles today on the trails and part road to see if I could take 50K later this month and the answer is yes. My legs haven’t felt this good post 20mi and 3K vert ever and I think gym time has helped. My core felt great as well which is usually the first part before my form falls apart.

I should note the cooler temps helped today. I still sweat ****** off but not like those 100+ days.

^ The cooler temps have arrived here too, and more importantly the humidity seems to be gone for the season!

I was supposed to have a tough 30k this morning but it was canceled due to low registration. Oh well. I used the time to drive out to my favorite park in Metro Detroit and got in 15+ miles at an overall pace of 8:44/mile. I did two easy laps around the lake (each lap is about 2.3 miles) then a couple laps in the hillier parts before finishing with another easy lap (plus a bit extra). I gained 1,027’ of elevation and was still able to get a couple miles in under 8:00 towards the end. The perfect weather definitely helped with that!

Afterwards I went to the eye doctor to go pick up my new pair of glasses. My wife had been bugging me to get my eyes checked for years and after a small traffic accident earlier this summer and some realization that I can no longer read without jacking up the text size or holding the paper way far out, I finally decided to go to the doctor. After picking up my glasses today, all I can say is holy sh1t I was blind! ?
