How Many Heavy Drinkers?

I am re-reading John O'Hara's Appointment in Samarra, and am once again amazed at the level of drinking that goes on in old novels with complete acceptance (Thin Man/Hammett, Chandler novels, etc.). I think I'm considered by most to be a pretty heavy drinker, at least in terms of my neighborhood, but I'd have been a lightweight back in the 1930s. Drinking lots has become so unfashionable, at least in the circles I run in. How do you guys stack up, and what are your experiences?

from about 15-30, I was a binge drinker, not so much a daily drinker, altough I might have 10 beers and/or wines with meals over the course of the week. but a half dozen times a years, maybe a dozen, I would get completly and utterly sloshed. now, I have a few hard drinking days a year, for work get togethers, and then I might have 50 drinks a year aside from that. extremly lightweight.

definately scaled down since the frat days... But since everyday more than 2 units is considered heavy around here I guess I should apply at AA, but only when its starting to give problems

As a social 19 year-old it's pretty hard not to be.

I used to be a heavy drinker, then I moved to the UK.

I drink more than I used to, but compared to the Brits...

<--- 24 year old. Typically dont touch a drop of alchohol on the weekdays. Friday and Saturday's, night out on the town. I'll have up to 15 drinks in one sitting (i can drink), but never letting my mannerisims mimic Michael J Fox.

Bartender, so it's a given that I drink. I don't drink before work, and perhaps a beer after work. It's the nights off with the free drinks because you're a local star that get the best of you, though.

I am 35.
Regular day: (most everyday)
A glass of wine for lunch. A beer or aperitif and half a bottle of wine for dinner.
Sometimes a scotch or some other heavy liquor after that (once in a while)
Party day:
...
I dont find it this heavy.
