How many days/weeks to complete bespoke suit in Naples?

Is it true that bespoke can generally be completed quicker in Naples or in the rest of Italy compared to the rest of the world (e.g. Savile Row)? I have a vague memory of reading somewhere that two weeks in Naples is enough time to complete a bespoke suit with most of their tailors. If that's true, that would be a serious money and time saver relative to fiddling around with a London fitting or waiting for US visits.... and make for a nicer vacation

Two weeks is about the maximum I could be in Europe.

I do not have personal experience, but from reading through a number of threads, and taking into account the situations of people I know who have commissioned work in Napoli, unless you're fluent in Italian, you will likely be ripped off.

I also think that two weeks is really pushing it, and you would likely be required to pay an expedition fee.

Italy is widely known as a model of timeliness and efficiency.

...I guess that's the nature of the igent beast though. The main thing I need to figure out now though is if they really can make up suits quicker than the UK, that would make a big difference.

I've heard that Borrelli MTM is almost like bespoke. You get fittings and measurements and within the range of Saville Row. BTW, I think they can make a high-armhole

I was thinking the same thing earlier this year and came to the conclusion that Rubinnaci was probably the most reliable to use in this endeavor. But I'm not willing to pay his prices.

I have tried this approach with a tailor, on a visit to Athens, Greece. I bought the cloth myself and then paid him 500 euros CMT.

Sadly, it was more of a headache as the suits barely got passed the skeletal fitting stage and I have had to use my local tailor for further alterations, as I have no plans to return to Greece.

Since the tailor only worked in cash, I had to pay him on my last fitting visit...before the work was done. To my dismay, he took his own sweet time to complete my suits and I had little recourse since he was so far away & I had already paid him for the work.

I am just about ready to order more cloth in order to redo the trousers and vest with my local tailor instead.

I too had considered Caraceni Rome since they have told me that they can do a quick turnaround (as Dopey noted).

Svenn, if you are looking for a quick one night stand, then try Caraceni, but if you hope on establishing a relationship for future commissions, Italy might not be right for you

Mafoofan has posted of his experiences in Naples, but his tailor visits NYC for further fittings, plus Foo returned to Naples on a few occassions for more fittings and future orders.

Not to be snarky, but is Greece known for tailoring prowess or timely delivery of service? It may be the only place that is guaranteed to be worse than Italy.

You will be at the mercy of whomever you choose.

Constantly wondering "will my suit be finished in time" is also a great way to ruin a vacation.

Why not choose someone who travels? You can get the full atelier experience at the start, then meet later in some more convenient city for the fittings.
