How likely is it that Brooks Brothers will go out of business?

I'm seeing a lot of news articles about BB closing down their factories and preparing for bankruptcy. Obviously predictions are difficult, but is it likely they will weather the storm (or get bought out) and stay open, or should I buy while the buying is good?

The name will remain because its worth something and someone will buy it but whatever comes out of BK isn't going to be the same company, if you are looking for something specific to BB then it's probably not a bad idea to buy while the buying's good, because even aside from the pandemic whatever they were doing before wasn't working out all that well so they're going to have to do something different going forward.

They already closed 3 of their US factories before the official bankruptcy filing, in order for them to come out of it, they'll have to consolidate and regroup in some form which includes the possibility of closing all their retail stores and go strictly online.

The retail clothing business is stagnant in this current climate ... look at J. Crew, Victoria Secret, Forever 21.

Nordstrom already sells some Brooks Brothers merchandise. If they did close a bulk of their retail, the brand may just move into department stores and online. The average Brooks customer probably doesn’t buy the same way as the average Forever 21 or even J Crew customer.
