How is the fit on this BB suit? (pics)

Needed a Navy suit, and found this BB Golden Fleece on the sales section for 250$, I really like the quality, feels solid. First used suit I've bought over the net...seems like left arm (right on pics) is a bit longer than right though.

So far I'm really liking it, MUCH more comfortable shoulder departments, compared to the slim and narrow suits I've usually worn.

Thanks! I wanted it a bit slimmer around the waist, since I have a more athletic/Y-shaped body, doesn't feel any tight at all. (It was very Square/sack-suit/formless when I got it). As far as vent goes, I don't think it opens, I'll take some more/better pics of back section.

edit: But I can see what you mean though, it looks tighter than it feels like on the mid section.

Waist looks fine to me, there's very little pulling at the button or anything. Not sure what's going on with the vent though; maybe it would lay better if the waist was let out slightly but I'm not too sure about that.

I'd bring it back the tailor and have him let it out slightly in the waist.

Shirt collar looks really bad regardless.

Just wondering though; When you've had the jacket taken in by the tailor, try out in his shop and pay for the service, are you expected to pay full price again if you come back the day after and say "sorry, but when I tried it out home I noticed it's been taken in too much, could you let it out a tiny bit?" ?

Or is it normal that he'll make the adjustment free of charge?

Just wondering what the norm/etiquette around this is.

Agree with the vent, and I think the reason why the jacket/waist look off is because the shoulders are too built up for your frame. It's especially obvious in the "reaching for my gun" shot, where I can also see that the armholes are really low. Would be interesting to see some comparison shots in your "slim and narrow" suits that you find uncomfortable.

I sometimes do this with my alterations lady whom I use for shirts and other minor stuff. This probably isn't an issue because I don't do it often and I'm a long time customer. With my actual (certified master) tailor to whom I take my jackets and suits, it's not an issue there either because he won't let me out the door until I've put it on in front of multiple-angled mirrors to make sure the work was done right. So far he's always done perfect work but if anything needed to be re-adjusted there would be no additional charge.

Have them look at the shoulders. The tailor might not have opened up the shoulders enough to raise the back/lower the collar. If you take bit more out of the upper back, you will find that it pulls the vent shut. It will also take care of the ripples on the shoulders - it should be FLAT when looking straight on.

How much would an operation like that cost? Is it complicated?

Money is my number 1 concern, as I'm a student and simply don't have too much disposable cash to throw around.

Ditch the pleats! Pleats are too 1980s. Get suits with flat fronts. Very stylish and modern!

I actually found out that we have a tailor in my family (totally forgot!) that will fix whatever issues there are, for no charge.

Fix shoulders a bit, take the waist out a bit, fix one of the arms. That should be it.

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
