Request for opinions:
I recently bought a suit where the jacket is a size too big (unfortunately, this sometimes happens due to the size pants I need...) I'm debating whether to get the jacket reduced (the full works, taking off the sleeves and trimming the shoulders) -- if I don't, I probably need to take it back. The vendor recommended Bhambi, and I've also spoken to Dynasty, and they've both told me that they can do this with no problem.
Do any of you have any experience with this? I've always thought that if the shoulders don't fit you should buy the suit but I've fallen in love with it. I either need to get it replicated MTM / bespoke (at greater expense -- this was massively discounted) or significantly tailored (or take it back, which makes me sad...) So I'm coming here for the wisdom of the educated masses. Is this doomed to failure? Or is this an easy (if expensive) task for a good tailor? If so, can anyone recommend a tailor who has done this specific task for them at a high level of satisfaction?
(Not sure if I should have started a separate thread for this or posted in the definitive NYC tailor thread. I'm new around here. Please advise as to etiquette.)
