How does one wear a tie as a belt?

How does one wear a tie as a belt? I've read that Fred Astaire was famous (or infamous?) for doing so.

I would assume the tie would have to be a skinny tie. Is the tie/belt knotted and if so, where exactly should the knot end up? At the front where the buckle would normally be or on either side of the waist?

Don't do it, you are not Fred Astaire. Really, you will only end up looking foolish and regret the decision.

Yes, I know I'm not Mr. Astaire. I wouldn't be able to dance to save my life at gunpoint! I'm simply wondering how one would wear a tie as a belt, that's all. I'm just curious, thirsting for eccentric sartorial knowledge.

I think this had a very, very brief moment a few years ago and it was quickly adopted by overtly flamboyant homosexuals who almost instantly ruined it for everybody.

Carson. Queer Eye.

That's synonymous with tie-belts.

Not a tie, exactly, though I am sure he tried that too- but most often a silk cravat. He'd simply tie it at the side.

I seem to remember something about the lead singer of INXS wearing a belt as a tie once.

you would probably need help getting someone to knot the tie for you, ideally a girl so it doesn't look too... well you know.

it would be funny to have the tie on the front or the back lol

How many women do you know that can tie a full Windsor? Or are you implying a four in hand would be more appropriate?
