How does a linen sweater feel?

I'm watching a 100% linen sweater on eBay and wondering about its general characteristics. I've never had experience with a linen sweater and my initial impression was that it would feel stiff since linen fabric tends to be coarse but then maybe how a sweater is weaved is different? As for warmth I'd guess it's primarily for early spring and fall, right?

Linen sweaters are great for spring and early fall. The material may be thick, but the properties of linen keep the wearer relatively cool. Though linen tends to be fairly coarse, the linen sweaters I've seen are pretty soft. This may be caused by a higher grade of linen, or it may be caused by the weave like you said. I own a 50/50 blend sweater of linen/cotton that is perfect. It's soft, yet has the great texture of linen. You might want to go this route if you are concerned with the softness of the material.
