from the 'bay.

I'm curious to know how you guys like to where your loafers. Do you have any "loafer rules" you follow?

Not really any "rules" to speak of. The loafer is essentially the most versatile shoe in your rotation. I wear loafers everywhere.

Loafers are great. I generally avoid wearing them with suits but think they are fine to wear otherwise.

sweet shoes OP

Thanks.

I've been trying to find the right pair for a while. When I saw these were B width I couldn't pass, the fit is perfect. Can't wait to debut them this weekend.

Nice. I need to put my weejuns back into rotation.

I personally enjoy the sockless loafer look. The idea pairing with shorts outside of boat shoes (also worn sockless of course).

-Sockless loafers are okay with shorts, but I don't like them with pants

-No loafers with suits, unless they're paired with a casual fabric suit. Also, should be fairly sleek and not have a beefroll or chunky stitching. Definitely never anything like a horsebit loafer or a pair of Sebagos

What on earth do you mean by "loafer rules"? Your suggestion that there are such things is utterly wrong.

Quote: Loafers are fine in my opinion. I wouldn't do loafer with the thick stitching tho.

I wouldn't wear loafers with a suit.
No socks is not that bad....had thoughts of trying it out but never did.
Loafers look better with lil to no break pants

Loafers are great. I generally avoid wearing them with suits but think they are fine to wear otherwise.

I know a surgeon who often wears (sleek) loafers with a (well-fitting) suit and button-down shirt (and tie) when seeing patients. Not sure what other people would think, but I think this is kind of a cool look for his job. Just by wearing a suit he is more dressed up than 90% of physicians, but the loafers and button down collar dress the look down in a way that might seem a little more friendly to patients. Many might perceive a doctor in an expensive suit, lace-ups, cutaway collar, cufflinks, etc. to be arrogant and I think the loafers help tone down the look in a way that works nicely for his profession. Just an example of a situation where I think loafers work with a business suit.

Since we're talking about 'sockless' loafers look, any good invisible socks you guys can recommend? I don't want the sock to be showing but I guess it would be more comfortable and less stinky to use a sock. I usually used lower quality slippers as my short-shoes so I could just throw them away if they stink too much, after a season or two :) But I'd rather have less shoes but better quality now, I don't have as much space to keep them anymore.
