I've bought a few sweaters today. The thicker ones are folded up, the thinner ones hanging on a clothes-hanger.
Never thought about it, but can a clothes-hanger do a sweater any harm? Will the shape stays the same?

i would not put a sweater on a clothes hanger, the neck line will stretch overtime... if you want to hang a sweater fold it nicely over a rounded hanger where you would hang pants on

Fold a sweater, don't put it on a hangar. I always see sweaters on sales racks at stores on hangars, and the necks are all stretched out to twice their original size and it just looks terrible because they're ruined before anyone even purchased them.

Always fold. Never hang.

I once had to pass on a gorgeous cashmere sweater on deep discount because the store clerks had it hanging around long enough to stretch it out ridiculously.
