How do you measure watch size?

I received a men's watch as a 5 year gift from work. It looks kind of small. The description says case size is 33 mm to 38 mm, they didn't pack me a women's watch by mistake did they?

it’s a nice watch. What’s the issue? It doesn’t look like a woman’s watch at all.

the watch case is measured across from one side of the case to the other, not including the crown.
Yeah, it is nice. I thought I could wear it for dress up days when I suit up. I just thought it was kind of small. Maybe I'm just stuck with the insecure male mindset that bigger is better, haha
Thanks

That size looks good to me.

Mark Cho at The Armoury has a good video about ideal watch size here:

Historically diameter of the case was lug to (diagonal) lug. But given different lug shapes there has never been a consistent way to measure.

The watch is 33 mm but my wrist is pretty narrow too.
Ok thanks for the video
That watch honestly looks larger than 33mm. On your wrist it looks pretty good, very well proportioned. It would certainly look very good with a suit and tie, or indeed anything else you wanted to wear it with.

I have narrow wrists and wear a chunky diver watch at 44mm that engulfs my arm.

Your watch looks perfectly sized for you in terms of proportion.
