How do you manage things in your pants pockets?

My cellphone goes into the front right pocket. Keys are usually in my briefcase on workdays. Otherwise, they go into the front left pocket.

The rest are in a wallet that is kept in the right rear pocket. The problem is that it can get heavy and bulky, creating an uneven sag and an unsightly bulge on the trousers. I usually clear my wallet, so there is not much junk in there in the first place.

I have pared things down to a bare minimum to keep in my pants. I leave my jacket on a hanger when I am in office, and prefer not to leave things in there. Perhaps a more even distribution might help. Any suggestions?

I'd keep a slim, small wallet or card case in my jacket pocket and keep cash in my pants pocket. Alden, Smythson, and Swaine Adeney all make small and/or thin card cases. There's been many threads about this here and on Ask Andy. Here's an older one (I know there have been more but not coming up with any on the search function). http://66.170.193.77/cgi-bin....mythson

Wallets in back pockets look (and feel) terrible IMO. Get a small case with a money clip and keep it in your front pocket.

I couldn't imagine carrying a cell phone in a pants pocket. Why not clip it to your belt? It surely wouldn't look any worse than a cell phone bulge in your pant pocket.

a back pocket wallet is also a very easy target for pickpockets.

personally i cram everything into the front pockets of my pants (cellphone included) and tolerate the bulge - but i live in 35 degree heat everyday and almost never wear a jacket.

I personally think this is not quite right.

Agreed. Cellphone on the belt is not the look for me.

I keep my wallet on the front right pocket, and my keys and cellphone in my front left pocket. It has worked so far. It is not very comfortable but I like the fact that they expand my trousers a little at where my pockets are because it creates a nice shape when it flares out a little from the belt area (the approximate equivalent of the look you get when you put your hands in your pockets)

Money clip in front left trouser pocket. Keys in right.

Blackberry in right jacket pocket. Card holder in left jacket pocket. Eyeglasses inside a special pocket on the left. Airline tickets and passport inside jacket on left and right, respectively.

I don't have rear trouser pockets.

I just kept my work badge and my mass-transit pass in my suit pockets. Everything else, including cell, is in my brief.

Wow, that's weird, I do the same exact thing - wallet in front right, cell and keys in front left.
