I never divulge my sources.

+1 to the variety of information here. It's much more mysterious when I don't explain how I came to know certain things.

I just refer to as a forum I enjoy reading, but never really refered to it by name or even shared about its contents. Plus my wife and colleagues would probably just assume I was weird.

Basically what happens in Style Forum stays in Stlye Forum.....

I don't tell anyone about sf either but I like that it provides me a wealth of information in way that I enjoy receiving.

Has anyone here have to explain to someone about meeting someone off of the Internet such as this website....

I usually tell no one.

My ex found my other escape (local forum) and started looking at everything I posted. Soon after we broke up because she didn't understand that it was my place to just get everything out. I bitched about her a lot on there and she flipped the **** out. hoe well, lesson learned.

My gf knows because she's seen me visiting on several occasions. She just finds it funny that I know more about clothes than she would ever care to know.
Otherwise, why would you talk about it? It would be like talking about a book that only you have read. Pointless.

"So do you guys have a store? Where do you sell your clothes."

"We sell almost exclusively through Styleforum.net. It is one of the largest men's fashion forums online."

I've only told a few people about SF and have always kept details extremely vague. I've never used the word "fashion" and basically describe it as a "general message board where a few clothing store owners/designers/etc also happen to be. Oh, and there is a small emphasis on non-mainstream denim."It's not that I'm embarassed by you idiots (lying), it's just that I'd rather not sit there and explain it all.

I have caught myself sometimes wanting to tell a friend a funny anecdote about something concerning the forum but always stop short.

I "participate" in a discussion group on "men's clothing" for "technical knowledge".

Not

Bunch of prissy dudes talk about their dresses and I'm the prettiest belle at the ball

I haven't mentioned it to anyone other than the girlfriend, who's seen me reading/posting/buying off of it lately. I've been kind of getting wrapped up into the site, it's hard to hide. She calls it a cult.

I explained to her that there are a lot of DC people on it and it's just another avenue to network and learn about network related stuff... which is true. Knowing how to dress, who to wear, what's in style, what to drink, etc... are all important parts of networking.
