How do you darken Shell Cordovan?

I have a pair of Shell Cordovan shoes that I want to darken. I did a search and there was very little helpful threads. The shoes I have are a lighter shade of #8. I want to get them to a more deep burgundy color. I thought about using black shoe polish, but they are already very shiny. I don't want to put too much polish on them, and then get a buildup of polish on the shoes. Does anyone have a good method to make them darker?

Navy polish will darken calf quite noticeably - perhaps it's worth a shot on shell. Also try pm'ing RIDER.

I used AE burgundy cordovan cream on my AE MacNiels and it does darken the cordovan leather. I am very happy with the results. Here is the link for the cream:

I would try the AE cream before resorting to black or navy.

You could always give mink oil a try.

If they are size 11.5D you could sell them to me and not have to worry at all about the effort, mess and/or frustration of darkening them
