I've noticed for males, there are two distinct ways they cross their legs.

One is like this, as on the left:

The other trend seems to be this:

    What method is your preference?

I am incapable of doing the former so I do the latter. An interesting question that I have pondered as well.

I have noticed that in Europe and Asia, almost everybody does the former. I've never really seen the latter.

This is an absurd thread, but I would like to thank you for inspiring me to do a Google Image Search for 'crossed legs'.

And in thanks, I will answer the question: I put my right ankle on my left knee, because no other way is comfortable.

I've heard it said that the former way is "feminine" and yet people like Douglas MacArthur also crossed their legs like that.

I think this may be another of those modern issues where people are afraid of acting "gay".

The former I feel is more elegant -- some narrowminded persons may even say effeminate -- the latter more macho as it exposes the crotch. The latter also exposes the sole of your shoe which I've always felt to be unattractive, especially considering the kinds of shoe most men wear.

I do both, but usually unconsciously gravitate toward the one-knee-over-the-other like in the first picture. My friend told me people thought I was gay (in sixth grade) because I did that, but I got over it. It's usually more comfortable.

When I am actively trying to show off my moose knuckle in my tight jeans I do the latter.

I opt for the latter because it doesn't crush my manhood nearly as much. But I certainly can't hold the position too long as my foot quickly falls asleep.

Yes on days where my balls are more saggy than normal, I have to cross them the second way, but usually prefer the first.

The former. The latter just isn't comfortable. I think men like to pretend their penis is larger than it really is and so they say the former is uncomfortable, but really they're just afraid someone is going to call them gay since it's drilled in to our minds from a young age that it's gay to cross your legs like that.

there is no way in hell for me to do the former. I just tried it, and no only does it squish the hell out of my package, my legs are so thick that I can barely acheive a "cross". It's more like I'm stacking my legs on top of one another, the top (right) leg listing just ever so slightly off the left kneecap. It is uncomfortable and looks preposterous.

I will continue to show the world the bottom of my footwear, because that is where it belongs. Crushed under my boot.

My hamstrings are too tight for the former to be comfortable for long periods of time.

The former for formal situations. The latter for casual situations.

The former squishes my frank and beans.

The latter hurts my knees after extended periods of time. And requires more space (not feasible for crowded places such as lecture halls, seminar seating, etc).

The latter is more comfortable. Only drawback is that you show the soles of your shoes. The former is just awkward.
