How do I prolong the longevity of Burberry trench coat leather lined buckles?

Merkur,

Thankfully, the leather buckles on my Burberry trench are fine, but like you I am a bit concerned about the possible effects of time. I must admit that I'm not sure if it's appropriate, but I occasionally rub mine with RM Williams leather conditioner and it doesn't seem to do the buckles any harm. On the other hand, I have no idea if it does them any good, either!

I did call the Sydney Burberry store to ask about replacement buckles, in the event that the originals wear out. I was told that yes, replacements can be ordered. As I didn't need to proceed any further, they didn't calculate the cost - I understood that it would be a special order and thus they didn't have a price to hand. Given that a Burberry trench costs at least $2500 new in Australia, I'm sure that they would charge a hefty fee for replacement buckles, though.

Hi!

If you ever need to replace your buckles, this site is the way to go ATButton.com, they have from plastic buttons, to leather ones and leather buckles, in a diverse selection of colors that works wonders with Trench Coats! Such as Burberry, Ralph and Lauren, and much more! The prices already include the prongs. And as you can see it's way cheaper than buying the replacement from the store!

I know it's late but I hope it helps!

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
