How did the founders of this places themselves get style?

I used to like Gucci branded junk until I came here. Now yesterday I saw a sweater + shirt + tie dude, but the sweater was marred with a red little polo pony (damn RL blue label!), and I thought, that is so lame, why is that there? You ain't playin' polo.

Thanks to this forum I now am style-listically awakened.

But how did the original people on this forum have good style? Are they european aristocrats or something?

In my case it was parents ... one of them with title ... the other with a suitable substitute.

I think the sixties were the equivalent of a stylistic H-bomb, disconnecting a great many men - myself included - from their sartorial heritage. Something which I am about to rectify, thanks to this site.

As for the founders, I guess the style of their parents/grandparents survived the period with it's lineage intact.

Anglo-sAxon style, which we American's draw from turned in Anglo American heritage.

It's not like it burst from the air out of nowhere. That little island dominated the world for a goodish amount of time.

Wow this is some deep philosophical stuff like, what came first the chicken or the egg.

I don't actually have the hubris to consider myself one of the founder's of this forum, but my style came from early exposure to well dressed television characters, and a bit of it is just inherent.
I dress very differently than most members of my ethnicity, or of similar socio-economic background do. I also care a bit more about what I wear than they do.
