How Did I do on my Brother's Law School Graduation

Need an attire critique for my brother's law school commencement (I am the dude who looks white). Hopefully, you guys don't think I overdressed, I thought the occasion was going to be pretty formal. I was in a rush that mourning so I know I tied my tie too long. Feel free to be as harsh on me as possible, but I kindly ask you refrain from negative comments on my brother or our childhood friend (he is a doctor so expecting him to dress half-decent is beyond the realm of possibility). http://s3.amazonaws.com/data.tumblr....DfIP%2BAKxo%3D

Impossible to tell from this photo, although I am sure you looked well dressed compared to the people in the background. Congrats to your bro on graduating anf good luck on passing the Bar.

What is the patch of fabric on your right chest? It looks like you have a pocket flap there which seems to be a weird place for a pocket flap. Please explain that for us. Hard to tell on the photo. But it looks like you are better dressed than most people. However, the black/white combo is too formal, in my opinion.

Nevermind, that is someone's shirt that is standing behind you. I was having a hard time deciphering your silhouette.

Sorry I don't have a better picture showing the entire outfit. The suit is charcoal.

You all look great, but I'm just not sure those glasses are working for you.

Which law school?

I'm kinda confused.

How is "I'm the dude that looks white" more helpful than "I'm the dude wearing a jacket."?

And why are you mentioning the length of your tie when the picture is cut off at the buttoned jacket? How the heck are we supposed to know how long the tie is?

Or are you a different guy all together?

Nope I am the guy in the jacket. Me being white is kind of an inside joke since I am Indian and most members of my family are darker. Like I stated earlier, I wish I had a better picture.

I am not a complete SF noob seeking advice here I now some of the basics of dressing. My question is more of one asking is this outfit appropriate given the situation.

Any suggestions on a different pair of glasses? I get a lot of complements from loose hipster chicks so I would take a lot for me to relinquish them.

Looks like Columbia Law School.

While I appreciate the ensemble, it's getting to the point where trying to look so much like Mad Men is unappealing. Parts of the look are ok, but the whole package is too much IMO (slicked back hair puts it over the top).

+1 on this! I was thinking the same exact thing! Also why not "Im the guy on the right" ?

Also the tie length statement completely confused me

And seriously how many times do I have to say I realize this is not the best picture! The point of these pictures was to capture the proud moment of my brother's graduation not to display my outfit.
