How can I accessorize a black sportcoat to make it look INTERESTING?

I really really really hate black.

But, unfortunately, I have a black sportcoat (not a blazer) that is 52% silk/48%wool with a tonal herringbone weave that is appropriate for all-season wear. The buttons are black, not metal or chrome or silver or whatever.

My question is this: What colour of pants and shirts and ties would you recommend I team up with this sportcoat to make it look REALLY DIFFERENT and SAVVY and INTERESTING and not vanilla or pedestrian?

I know I can wear tan or cream or beige or grey and charcoal slacks (you know, the USUAL colours) in solids, checks, etc., and pretty well almost any colour of shirt (except navy blue, of course) in stripes and chekcs and everything else . . .

. . . but what do all of you PERSONALLY recommend to make the entire ensemble "pop"?

Thank you very much!

There are really a billion options. Despite what SF might have you believe, it's really quite a versitile piece. How about white slacks, light blue polka dot socks, loafers, solid blue shirt and striped pocket square?

Honestly, treat it like you would any other blazer and color. Stop being intimidated by the word 'black'.

Oh, yes, I know I can do whatever but I'm looking for personal suggestions that would make it POP.

I'm not intimidated by black. I just hate black with a passion because it's an incredibly BORING colour.

I do not like black and blue together. I will never wear those two colours together.

I have no problems coordinating or accessrizing.

I just hate black and find that black pretty "kills" an outfit because I view view as very negative and lacking life, literally.

I can be wearing the most fantastic shirt, most fantastic pants, and most fantastic tie in the known universe . . . but . . . as soon as the black sportcoat goes on, it's like everything was for naught.

I just can't seem to get past that whole "black is negative" or "dreary" mentality. I've NEVER seen a black sportcoat accessorized in such a way that made me think, HOLY SHIT, THAT IS FUCKING HOT!

NEVER.

I think I should just give that jacket away. I'll never be happy with black.

What kind of moron wears something he hates? Sell it. Note: people who have a problem with black clothing are subhuman.

I'd wear it i will raw denim, either blue or black. Or with a full suit only if it is skinny. I agree on the no blue and black together, but for some reason I don't feel like it applies with the black blazer raw demin enemble. I think a pink shirt with a black jacket, grey tie and raw indigo denim, with brown shoes would look great. Hmm, I actually might try this tomorrow night for a party...

depends on what occasion you wear it for. If casual I would try white slacks and a very fitted denim shirt - no tie.
