I cleaned these up some, with lexol cleaner and conditioner. Are these just too hobo looking to wear with a suit or just slacks and dress shirt

I'm personally not crazy about the color, but I think these are still very usable.

Not sure how they looked before, but they look decent now. They could use a bit more cleaning inside the brouging and around the seams (use a q-tip).

I'd fix the damage on the left shoe at the tip of the toe box. There are some good threads on fixing this kind of damage. Hopefully dye isn't needed.

Also clean/condition the edge of the sole, particularly where the stitching is. Might need some edge dressing.

Top it off with some new wax laces, maybe matching the color of the edge of the sole.

Look good enough to me.
They will look much better when you are actually wearing them.

On the front brogue there's some deep leather scuff of missing material and showing the color underneath.

Also the color is a maroon.

I'm assuming shoestrees will not restore some I those deep creases at this point?

Shoe trees might keep them from getting worse; the right one's as far gone as it's likely to get, though.

If you wear them with jeans or casual chinos, they're fine.

"Keeping them" long term depends on the sole wear.

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
