How are Pringle sweaters?

I'd like concrete information about this famous scottish brand. Their sweaters are easily available online, but nearly impossible to get OTR in my country.

So, how do the sweaters size? Rather large & baggy like other scottish makers? Or are they generally offering a fashionable slim fit? A very old thread here (2004) told they were going on the slimmer side... Is it always the case by now? That's my main concern.

Generally speaking, are the wools thick or not? How are their non-cashmere wools?

And would you classify Pringle among the top-tier scottish makers for wool? Or maybe second-tier? The prices here and there seem surprisingly low.

I have a fair amount of first-hand experience with Pringle Of Scotland sweaters, in fact I currently have one for sale (see my signature). Check out the photos in that thread for some close-up details of the construction and quality.

I have found that there is a wide variation in quality between different pieces. I own another plain Pringle Of Scotland sweater and it is far inferior to the one I am selling - much less weight to it, the cashmere is not as substantial and lush (if that's the right word). However that was reflected in the price paid and the location where I picked it up - £325 brand new from Harrods versus £100 from a Pringle outlet store. Therefore I would say that, like so many other things, you get what you pay for.

Fit is true to size IMO, 19" P2P for a size S is about right. They're certainly not baggy by any means.

In summary it's a good maker, but there are better out there, although expect to pay a premium for the alternatives.
