How’s the fit of this peacoat?

Owed this coat for years, but haven’t worn it recently because the sleeve length is too long. Thinking of taking it to be tailored. How is the overall length and fit? Should I take the length up? It goes below where the inseam on my trousers begins.

Just like with Overcoats, you want the shoulder seams of a peacoat to end where your shoulders naturally end – where they start curving down to your arm. Length wise it should hit your mid - lower crotch. When buttoned, the jacket should lightly hug your midsection, but not feel tight or constricting. It looks a little loose.

Unbutton the last button.

Looks big, but nothing you can't grow into if you add some bacon to your diet.
