After a disastrous experience topying my shoes at the Houston Shoe Hospital, and some half-starts at other area cobblers, it's hard to believe I can't find a good listing for the best cobblers in one of America's largest cities. Here's what I do know so far: -Houston Shoe Hospital- Topyed my shoes by actually cutting into the leather sole and leaving a thick chunk of rubber in its wake. Sleek loafers now look like sneakers. Awful. -Village Shoe Shop- (Rice Village): They know what they're doing, but their prices are on the upper end for topying, resoling etc, but I've been satisfied with what they've done for me. -Shoe Savers-I don't care how many awards Barry Croft, has won, he is a dick/jerk like no other. Seriously, you "don't have time" to answer any of my questions? You just walk off to work on something else? He's gotten horrific reviews on yelp etc, and I'm not sold on his attitude, but has anyone actually used his services before? I'm interested in services for dress shoes, or leather belts etc. I'm not the cowboy boot type, but if they do good work, please recommend them here as well. Could Houston or Texas-based members add their own opinions/experiences to help populate this modest list? Thanks!
