Hot Take: Classifieds Here are Nearly Worthless

The buy & sell here seems to be utilized by the quasi-business and high-volume resellers by an overwhelming majority, with regular joe members largely posting their goods inside individual brand or themed threads. I check out the classifieds everyday - and it seems to be the same 100+ items from the same sellers that no one wants and have been posted since 2017 and bumped every other day.

If the classifieds are open to these 'businesses' and resellers, why not charge them a fee-per-listing to put toward the site, while allowing regular members to post free? Why not enable tagging so that postings from resellers or other high-volume sellers can be filtered out?

I really don't know why I even visit the classifieds anymore tbh.

B&S does seem fairly clunky and difficult to navigate. It's a nice option for average members to sell things privately. Bulk resellers though, not sure....

Need to allow multiple items per posting (even if item prices differ) and limit the maximum number of bumps in a 24 hour period. There's not that many resellers, but you see 10s of posts for each.

I've pretty much given up on the classifieds too. I used to use it more frequently years ago, but now it does need a re-think for all the reasons you point out. On the rare times I do try to use it, the item is almost always long since sold but the seller forgot to update the listing. I've just moved to using TheRealReal, the brand-specific threads, or moved off-site to the 1-2 established resellers that I like like TheSupplier. I would love an option that lets me only see regular joe members and puts the businesses and resellers in a completely different section.

I still think of this thread whenever I venture into B&S.

Bumping to boost visibility... maybe it will give someone else a laugh.
