There is still work to be done - the images in existing sigs are not yet linked, for example, and we are working on a way to get the images to load faster - which will improve the performance of the site, especially on the pages with a ton of images, and we will continue to work diligently on that and keep you updated.

Do Americans eat hot cross buns?

I'm just curious, given that we're into the easter season, and you guys might be missing out.

Especially of the chocolate ones. Which I'm eating right now. Mmmm.

Some bakeries in the major cities on the two coasts (don't know about in between) make them around this time of year. I sense that they aren't widely eaten though. A shame - they can be damn good and should be more than a seasonal treat.

I love hot cross buns. Bought a half-dozen just the other day. I've never heard of them in chocolate, though.

I make them from scratch from a 1930's recipe. Nothing beats the smell of yeast in a kitchen. Good stuff there.

    Regards,

We need some kind of cross-cultural Q&A thread.

I'll post one in General Chat when I think of an interesting question for somebody "foreign" [IMG] .

We've certainly got them in DC. I can also speak for New York and Boston. And I am assuming we are not talking about excessively warm, angry rabbits, chocolate or otherwise.

I think we made them once in my home economics class in middle school in Indiana.

So tasty! You have inspired me to do some baking this weekend. I make quick breads nearly every week (muffins and such) but it has been quite some time since I have had anything rising in my kitchen.

Crazy... I remember the nursury rhyme I think... but I never really thought about it. I have never had a hot cross bun. Are they sweet, or like a roll, or what?

Sweet, with a sticky, sweet glaze.

Some are sweeter than others... I've had some that were more roll like, and others that were more similar to a sticky bun.
