My fiancee and I are hosting an Iron Chef party next weekend but we are having trouble deciding what the secret ingredient should be. Any suggestions?

Salt!

Artisan, sea, or common table. The possibilities are endless.

If I may...

It's been a while since we had a good natto battle. That, or durian.

Vidalia Onions should be out very soon.

Sweet potato.

Black Cod.

Sweetbreads.

And +1 on Nutella. That's a great idea.

Speaking of which, I got a bag of vidalia onions the other day. Couldn't believe how sweet they were. I think I put them in pretty much every meal since.

Strangely enough, I just started bit-torrenting 13GB of the original Iron Chef yesterday, since, inexcusably, it is not out on DVD. I am really, REALLY looking forward to watching them.

Kaga-san, can you tell me if the lack of Iron Chef on hard media, such as DVD or Blu-Ray is Fuji-TV's fault or the American Liscencers trying to push their inferior Iron Chef "America" (Though it is filmed in Canada... ) on us?

I really would like to know who to bomb.

Alton Brown makes Iron Chef America worth watching. I have to turn it off whenever Bobby Flay is up.

I like Alton Brown...but can't agree with that one. However, does anyone remember his episode of Good Eats w/ "Scrap Iron Chef" where he made fun of Iron Chef? CLASSIC!!!!!!!!
