this just cracks me up: http://www.yoox.com/item.as....&tskay= frightening. -Jeff
It's not a hoody; but it is a sweatshirt crossed with a blazer And yes, this piece does look sort of silly - it'll be in the "What were we thinking" category. On the other hand, I think that the idea is not completely preposterous, in the right hands (as usual).
I have seen the hooded sportsjacket thing done extremely well. Emporio Armani and Neil Barrett have both made sportsjackets on which the lapels transitioned directly into hoods of the same in past seasons (Emporio at least 6 years ago, Neil Barrett a few seasons ago). This year, Yoko Devereaux has a terrific two button sportsjacket with patch pockets, cut very trim and short, available in either black cashmere that feels like softer boiled wool or in a light grey heavyweight cotton fleece (like sweatshirt material, but much stiffer) with a hood that also looks amazing. And it could be worn by hipsters and traditionalists alike, by the former as a staple, by the latter to kick things up a bit. It looks very stylish and understated at the same time.
