Why is this over looked?!

So many people think that they can order a suit and it come perfectly fitted without any further alterations?! I've seen people wear Armani suits and they look like complete @$$holes. You give me a $400 dollar budget can I make you look like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale.

So many things are overlooked! A good tailor and make you look awesome in any outfit whether it be $100 or $5000!

Can I hear an AMEN?!

I don't think anyone could have the maomao or Mark Cho look without spending a couple of thousand pounds

I really depends how picky you are, I got to admit I am very picky

However, I do agree a RTW garment should always be tailored after the purchase, it is like showing some respect to the maker and yourself to look nice after spending some good money

This especially applied to tailored clothing

Good point, I haven't seen any consolidated tailoring threads. It might be nice to have a thread for each region/area where SF members can comment/review local tailor shops. When I needed a tailor, I looked at the listings and basically took a guess. It worked out well. My tailor is more than competent. But I wish I had more information going into it.

Since this is one of the few places on the internet devoted to this exact concept in laborious detail, I don't see your point.

I was lucky enough to have the Miami New times. Classified magazines or yelp usually do the trick for me.

The tailor I ended up with is new at least to this area. I got lucky. There were no online reviews etc. to rely on. There were other tailors with online reviews, but I am usually suspicious of them. There are usually a low number of reviews. The positive reviews could be shills. The negative reviews may not reflect the actual experience. By that I mean people who have had a negative experience are more likely to post a review than someone who is a satisfied customer. Having the chance to open a dialogue on the forum offers much more information and a better basis for making a decision.

Not sure why you would want to look like Daniel Craig in Casino Royale, but nonetheless: Amen.

With a good tailor a 100 dollar suit will look as good (if not better) then a 1000 dollar one. I live in Westchester NY and found the best tailor in the area. Not cheap but well worth the work and experience.
