So I am more likely to be doing a September trip to Singapore/HK/Kyoto/Tokyo. Japan I think I've got. Boring suits, edging toward dark grey. Elastic faux oxfords just in case I have to remove in someone's office. Singapore also. That's more of an R&R weekend bookending an informal update meeting or two. Casual but clean, trying to beat the humidity. Linen shirts, fresco or linen trousers, a spare blazer for dinner. I was thrown a bit by one of the websites, however, which says to avoid blue in HK business settings as it reminds people of funerals. Are we talking navy suits and slate or royal blue CBD ties being the problem, or are HKers just trying to keep away from women in periwinkle and electric blue dresses? Otherwise I'm assuming dark grey will work day and night. Will mid-grey make you feel like a Caucasian light bulb walking around? I have no real agenda for selling or presenting, but I don't want to become the Obvious American.
