I prefer boots without as much detail when wearing denim.

I'd agree with both posters above (About the toe and the detailing), but I think these would be ideal if you are doing that denim-with-a-tweed-sportcoat look. Outside of that, I think they'd have a rather limited range of application.

That flat toe box looks uncomfortable, and the broguing just doesn't work for me. What about a more straightforward chelsea boot? It would be a lot more versatile.

There are some Loake I like, that is not one of them. I expect the range this one is under to be rather short-lived, frankly.
This sort of strangely tapered near-chelsea to be relatively popular among fashion forward designers. I am a fan of brogueing and sleek boots but it is hard to combine the two together.

As others have mentioned above, they are not my thing. Personally I would stick with more traditional chelseas . . .

Will these shoes go well with dark denim and/or grey trousers?????

My GF doesn't like them but now I'm torn.

get what you like.
they should go well with dark denim but not grey trousers.
the denim should be straight leg and not loose at all.

personally, i think the shoes are horrid. my honest opinion.

I like those a lot, actually. I think they'd look excellent with some straight raw denim like APC New Standards. They're definitely pretty trendy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing depending on what you're looking for.

I think a lace-up like the Loake Burford, while similar, would look much better.
