Depends on what you intend to do. Assuming that you are in a warm place that is *not* a resort (mainly because I hate resorts and having to look at both the fat rich people that use them and the annoying college age kids they've spawned,) I'd say bring a navy or black suit for the evening and shirts, shoes, and accessories to match (natch the tie - too formal for vacation), a couple of pairs of jeans and comfortable shoes (or sneakers) and an armload of (well fitting tees to hang around in, and gym clothes, as well as some clothes for general outdoor activities.
