Hi all. So I’ve been looking for a waxed jacket and naturally the go to is Barbour.

I like to find alternative lesser known brands with similar tech.

Ive come across this jacket https://www.hoggs.co.uk/mens/coats-and-jackets/caledonia-men-s-wax-jacket

what is very interesting is, they use Halley Stevenson P270 Silkwax and a Waterproof/breathable membrane which makes this the first waterproof waxed jacked of this design I’ve seen.

Im not 100% sure but I think the whole jacket is also made in Scotland.

anyone have one or thoughts?

thanks.

I'm also looking for a different waxed jacket than the usual Barbour, since I don't like the logo on the outer pocket or Barbour jackets. I think the jacket you linked looks good. I also like the John Partridge Landowner jacket which you can find on their website. I don't know any other alternative in the same price range. Since I live in Europe I only have access to Barbour, unfortunately.

My hunch is the jacket is not made in Scotland, or they would prominently say that. Instead, they use the rather weaselly tactic of noting that the "fabric" is made down the road.

I have the S&M wax jacket in blue. No branding, zip out vest, etc. It’s really nice and might even be on sale for $200.
