I have 3 solid black ties … a grossa, fina and a silk knit. I don't wear them all the time, but I do use them a fair amount especially in the fall/winter. I think it's limited if your wardrobe or tastes don't support them. I like them with ocbd's, particularly white, but blue can be good too. Aside from monochromatic looks (which I do a lot), I like them with cardigans in burgundy and green … black with reds go particularly well IMO. If you have bold patterned jackets that have a gray in them, a black tie can work well to add some contrast without introducing more color. It can also be a good balance for fits using charcoal trousers. Anyhoo, that's kinda how I think of using them in my wardrobe.I should have been more specific. My question is - is it actually of any use outside of a couple limited applications?
