Brown would look great with black knit tie and black loafers/tassels.

Truth. Although I own neither.

One problem I have with brown jackets is that I often don't like brown shoes with them unless the colors (or at least a secondary color in the jacket) fairly closely match. So I don't like the snuff suede here with the jacket.

I agree, that is the main reason I added black tassels and a couple black knit ties this past year. I have a lot of brown jackets, and the black shoes and tie looks great with most of them as long as your shirt is somewhat neutral, ecru being the best imo. Works great with tweeds and flannels too.

Burgundy might be an option?

A linen suit, bad lighting, and the first hints of fall in the South.

Still trying to figure out the damn lighting to take better photos.

Really nice tie. It absolutely screams, "Fall." Is it wool?
Thanks! This is indeed a wool tie, one of my favourites for Fall/Winter.

Your outfit is nice too, pretty classic. I think though that both sleeves and trousers could use a little trimming, they seem too long to me.

You're right, they are, the trousers especially. The linen really exacerbates the bagging in the knees too. I'm a lawyer, so I usually have to wear pretty conservative clothing, especially when I'm meeting with clients or going to court.
