As @An Acute Style said, a crewneck and a bow tie is better than a necktie and a crewneck.

Yesterday at UCLA Medical Center on a dark and stormy (by local standards) day.

For some reason this picture came out a little blurry. Oddly enough this is the same way things look through my left eye since my eye surgery on January 4th.

My vision through my left eye will get better as my eye heals. On the other hand, this picture will never get any better.

Brooks Brothers tweed jacket and Shetland crewneck sweater, Lands' End bow tie, generic pocket square, L L Bean OCBD shirt and corduroy trousers, and Allen-Edmonds shoes.

Still wearing the things I have been wearing since Wednesday January 18th when an old dead tree fell through the ceiling of my apartment. Have been in a hotel since then.

Had the landlord hired a professional tree trimmer and a professional electrician rather than having a friend drive down from Oxnard in his spare time doing the work, the tree probably would have been cut down, reduced to wood chips and hauled away and the power reconnected in two or three days.

Interested to read some of the recent comments about the changes to the nature of this thread down the years. One thing that hasn't changed is the contribution made by that elegant boulevardier, @upr_crust

I was delighted to catch up with him again on Friday, in the company of his charming husband, when we had lunch at the Northall Restaurant at London's Corinthia Hotel. Afterwards, we took a stroll around St James's and bumped into some gentlemen from Instagram in Jermyn Street. So, in recognition of this auspicious occasion, I thought it high time I got back to posting here:

Back in tweed. This vintage Harris Tweed jacket feels like it was made for me, though the quarters are slightly more open than I would like. The pants are my usual dark brown corduroys. They are a rich, dark chocolate color that doens't photograph well. The belt was crooked, but I only noticed after having the pictures taken; oh well... Also wearing a tie clip that has been my dad's, and then mine, for the past few decades.

The outfit is great. Only thing that bothers me a bit: the proportions between your shoulders, the lapels and the ties. I think it would be better if the lapels and the ties were narrower.

Outfit of the day, quite relaxed with a touch of tailoring (tie):
  • Shoes: JM Weston, Golf model
  • Socks: Suitsupply
  • Trousers: Maison Pen (not very happy with the outlook)
  • Shirt: Lanieri
  • Cardigan: Barbour
  • Tie: Fumagalli 1891
  • Coat: Barbour.
what are your thoughts on Lanieri? I’ve been wanting to try their products as I’m making the jump to MTO this year.

I've purchased around 15 shirts from them. I am happy with the quality and the fit. Only criticism would be that they lack a bit of originality. That's why I recently purchased from Apposta, and I am happy with their shirts too.

Haven't posted anything in a while. Please excuse the bathroom mirror selfie, it's hard to take good pictures while stuck in an office all day.

Jacket is from Cavour, shirt is Anglo-Italian, trousers are made by Whitcomb & Shaftesbury and shoes are Edward Green.

You Must Be Lost,   You're Here!
I guess I’m referring more to app based mediums like tik tok, IG, FB and the like. Never considered online forums like this as social media. I have been wrong though.
