Jacket looks fabulous. Just one thing to check: In the first picture, the right shoulder appears heavily roped, while the left shoulder is pretty flat. May just be the way your right arm is positioned in the first shot. But obviously you want the shoulders to appear symmetrical, so if there is extra wadding in the right one, I'd get it taken out.

I've not worn a jacket or tie since a week ago yesterday, but this evening, my husband and I celebrated our sixth wedding anniversary, for which we got dressed up, for a dinner at the Leopard at des Artistes, formerly the Cafe Des Artistes, a venerable institution on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. Much deliciousness ensued . . .

Suit - Paul Stuart
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Charvet
Cufflinks - Deakin & Francis, via Scully & Scully, NYC
Braces - Albert Thurston, via Paul Stuart
Pocket square - Polo Ralph Lauren
Shoes - Harris, via Barney's, NYC (defunct, alas)
Featured desserts were a chocolate mousse, and a delice de limoncello . . .

Aboard Metrolink Train 662, an outbound Orange County line train, enroute to Orange CA this morning.

IMG_7326.jpeg

Napps ivory jacket, Brooks Brothers PPBD shirt and tie, Thomas Pink pocket square, Banana Republic grey glen plaid cotton/linen blend trousers, Rugby Ralph Lauren socks, and Allen-Edmonds grey suede shoes.

For fans of "Piece-Of-A-Person" pictures a piece of a person with tea at the Paris In A Cup Tea Salon in Orange CA picture.

After tea went to the Hilbert Museum which is across the street from the Orange CA depot. Amongst many other things they have a Leyendecker picture.

Here's what it says next to the Leyendecker picture.

The Hilbert Museum is a very nice museum. Unlike some museums you can tell what all the pictures are pictures of.

On the off chance anyone out there thinks I haven't posted enough train pictures, here's another one.

What panache! Details on the Mercedes?

View attachment 1667128 View attachment 1667129 View attachment 1667130 View attachment 1667131

Unusual combination for me. Beige and light grey.

Jacket: Bladen for Tweed Stockholm
Shirt: Drake's
Tie: Cappelli
PS: Poszetka
Pants: Canali
Shoes: Mano
Shades: Garrett Leight
Love that jacket.

Good luck (belated)!

When wearing a cravat, do you leave two buttons undone or just the top? I experimented with both yesterday while (still) WFH:

If I'm ever distinguished enough to wear a cravat, I'll let you know.

I was advised against this fabric by a sales rep because they were skeptical that it would turn out well. But, as you’ve all come to know by now, I never listen to people’s opinions.

Looks good to me. What is it, cotton? Was the warning based on the content of the fabric, or the color?

Thank you! The Mercedes is a 1975 450SL. The pandemic has limited the number of times it has gotten an outing, but when the weather is right it is a lot of fun. Many R107s are plagued by rust, but this one is quite clean, having been a California car for its entire life. Considering that this was a luxury cruiser when it was new, by modern standards it is shockingly primitive. But it is still fun.

Wool shantung tie / american oxford shirt / Berlin in the pocket / jacket made by Marling & Evans wool

View attachment 1671444

Not sure I’ve ever seen wool shantung before. Silk of course, also cotton and rayon, but wool? Who makes the fabric for the tie, is that also M&E?

Very cool. I had a law school professor in the mid/late 2000's with a 1960-something cherry red convertible Mercedes coupe. Similar to yours, but a shorter wheel base, I think. What a great looking car. I never got to take a ride in it, but it looked awesome. Are you the original owner?

I may be mistaken, but I don’t think Andy is that old. :)
