Wearing my first suit that my mom bought for me in high school. This suit is about 24 years old. I had the pants taken out a great deal, but they’re still a bit snug. I may taper the leg. Maybe not. The tie is also from high school.

The weather in NYC today is overcast and a bit cooler than is normal for this time of year, allowing me to indulge in a heavier weight suit, and perhaps a wildly inappropriate accessory - today's waistcoat. The subject of odd waistcoats had come up recently in two separate conversations, and it planted the idea in my head to attempt to make it work with today's attire.

Today's waistcoat was purchased for my wedding in 2015, and has been worn in public twice - once, for the wedding/reception, and once at the spring garden party for the Frick Collection in 2016. If I wear it out of the house today, that will be its third outing (the jury is still out as to whether I leave the apartment wearing it, considering my tasks for the day are no greater than visits to the dry cleaner and the drug store).

Even if it doesn't make it out the door, at least it still fits after nearly six years.

Suit - Paul Stuart/Phineas Cole
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Ralph Lauren Purple Label
Cufflinks - Deakin & Francis, via New & Lingwood
Braces - Albert Thurston, via Paul Stuart
Waistcoat - Favourbrook, London
Pocket square - no name brand
Shoes - Florsheim Royal Imperial (Magnanni manufacture)
Face mask - New & Lingwood

The weather in NYC continues to be seasonably mild and mostly sunny, such that the parade of suits can continue. After yesterday's extravagance, back to a simpler outfit. I was at a loss to coordinate a pocket square with today's suit, shirt, and tie until it occurred to me that I could play with scale - two sets of polka dots, one small, one large. I hope that it is not too matchy-matchy for the taste of the public.

Suit - Paul Stuart/Phineas Cole
Shirt - Tyrwhitt
Tie - Turnbull & Asser
Cufflinks - Deakin & Francis, via Scully & Scully, NYC
Braces - Albert Thurston
Pocket square - Ede & Ravenscroft
Shoes - Harris, via Barney's NYC
Face mask - New & Lingwood

Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon will finally, in the time between trains, get this right. Will be centered, won't be blocking the words "Union Station", and will get the entire clock tower in the picture.

Brooks Brothers tweed jacket and yellow OCBD shirt, Berkey Cravats for Eljo's Richmond tie, Hermes pocket square, Allen-Edmonds belt and shoes, and Lands' End trousers.

Since people have asked how I take the pictures, took this picture by putting the cell phone tripod mount with the cell phone in it on the sundial and then used the Blue Tooth remote shutter button and the 10 second timer (to give me time to get the Blue Tooth remote shutter button into a pocket).

Here's the cell phone tripod mount on the sundial.

For fans of Piece-Of-A-Person pictures, a piece of a person getting a head start on National Cream Tea Day (which is June 25th this year) at the Tea Rose Garden in Pasadena CA picture.

Once again, my belt did not match my shoes. Don't know where that bizarre "belt-must-match-shoes" fetish came from. Wish it would go back to wherever it came from.

The belt, an Allen-Edmonds Logan Avenue belt, came from another Styleforum member in 2017.

The tweed part of the belt didn't match the tweed of my jacket and the leather part of the belt didn't match the leather of my shoes.

Here's a close-up of the shoes.

Although my shoes and belt did not match nothing evil happened to me. Totally random people on the street spoke with me, something that's happening again now we no longer wear face masks outside.
