Cap does not work here.
Full disclosure I hate any and all ball caps, but that aside I’m always baffled when I see an outfit like this as to what by the thought process is. Jacket, shirt, tie, strides, shoes allreasonably congruent and well fitting - exactly what do you think you added by putting an eminently casual cap on top of an otherwise dressed up outfit? It’s like seeing poker playing dogs in the louvre.
I wish I could go without the cap, but I haven’t been able to get a hair cut for four months now. I’d look homeless without it, and it keeps my hair from my ears, which are extremely sensitive thanks to a skin condition. It’s more of a necessity then a fashion statement.

I have a couple of caps I like to sport in the winter, regardless of the rest of my fit. One is a chunky wool by epaulet and one is a waxed cotton hunting cap with gold down ear flaps.

I feel like a movie star when I wear them.

So did you keep your hat on when you sat down to eat lunch?
Brimmed hats are the way forward - or even backward - but would be more congruent with the rest of your togs.
A brimmed hat will be on the list when I can head out again, for now, I’ve got to make do with what I have, beats my indoor apparel of various headbands.

I’ve seen some great outfits with caps included — admittedly mine isn’t in the hall of fame, but Will of The Dons Club comes immediately to mind.

I'm glad my dress could lead to such lively discourse. Nonetheless, I think my ensemble works to perfection.
Many more to come, which I'm sure will stimulate more response form those that are sure they know what fashion and
style is all about.
;)
I once posted a fit and had @Michael81 tell me my jacket was too short. It was the same length as all my jackets, and I experienced an existential crisis. Now I’m in the future. I buy jackets with a more classic length, look better, and feel a gratitude toward @Michael81 to which he is likely oblivious. Happy ending.

Interesting. Glad your increased jacket length makes Michael81 happy.
My jacket lengths are to make me happy.
Thank you for your reply.
