We have now passed the Memorial Day weekend in the US, making licit the wearing of white, and linen, and other summertime favorites. In looking at posting from past years, I note that I wore this suit two years ago this week, for the Frick Garden Party, an event that was cancelled for this year, not only for COVID-19, but also for the closing of the Frick for a major program of refurbishment, a multi-year effort to reconfigure and gently add to the physical plant, while bringing it, mechanically at least, into the 21st century.

That being said, it is cool enough today to wear a three-piece suit, and warm enough to wear linen, hence today's attire.

Suit - Joseph Abboud
Shirt, tie, and pocket square - Brooks Brothers
Cufflinks - Deakin & Francis, via New & Lingwood
Vintage watch chain
Shoes - Carmina
Hat - Christys, via Thomas Farthing, London

Walking the dog. This is as extravagant/peacock as I get. Wasn't sure if the tie would work with the shirt but I was committed to wearing both. Thought it would rain and shoes have some non slipping soles.

Picked up a new used jacket this weekend. A little stain removal, cleaning, thorough steaming, pressed with iron, steamed again, and hung out side to air dry. I'm pretty happy with it, nice and light.

My aunt posted this pic of my late grandpa on FB. I wish I could got dressed up with him. I didn't care about clothes when he was alive.

All of the shops on Rodeo Drive (and everywhere else) in Beverly Hills are still closed, although a few shops have recently started offering curb side pick up.

Swanned around there for a few hours today. Didn't see any curb side pick ups happening nor did I see many people.

Brooks Brothers Madras jacket, blue PPBD shirt, and BB#1 stripe tie, Thomas Pink red pocket square (which has slipped down deep into the pocket), Trafalgar blue and red surcingle belt, Orvis trousers, and tan suede Allen-Edmonds shoes.

A recent post on the Ivy Style blog was a link to an article in "The Rake" about how the older type of Madras fades and as a result older Madras jackets are darker under the collar and lapels.

Here's a picture under the collar of the Madras jacket I am wearing.

I'd suggest getting a shirt with a much wider spread. The points of your collar should sit under your jacket, not "droop" down and hug the tie.
