He, thanks, though this is actually a homburg.

From my grandfather, I have a black homburg, two bowlers in black & grey and a grey fedora. I really enjoy wearing the homburg & bowlers, as they were my grandfathers and because nowadays they're seen as very formal, I try to wear them whenever the opportunity presents. Tonight, we have a wedding.
Are you a regular at shul? That would be a great opportunity to sport those lids.

Wasn’t sure about the ‘bowler’ but I’m used to seeing a homburg with a centre dent and pencil roll on the brim. I got into an online scrap with someone who was on about a ‘Harrington jacket’ which didn’t have a funnel neck, knit cuffs and hem, tartan lining, flapped pockets ... at what point is it no longer a Harrington? Same as people calling anything to be worn in the rain as a ‘trench coat’.

Anyway all sartorial semantics aside I think it’s great to see some of us able to repurpose our forbears’ accessories. I seem to remember crusty displaying his late father’s pocket watch and I have a few things of my Dad’s. My own grandad was a very snappy dresser but being born in 1900 and dying in 1977 there wouldn’t have been much of his wardrobe that would be appropriate for me. He was from the era of men who did like their hats, and I have a sweet gold and green jade tie tack of his which I don’t use but I’m very happy to have as a little souvenir of his style

I look forward to your robo-pose every time I check in here. I have a soft spot for SP. This suit fits you very well.

I think this may be the first time I'm posting an overcoat. Collapsible umbrella in my pocket is making me look a touch hippy, but that's ok. I also know y'all don't care for paisley, but I do.

I'm not sure what's more distracting—the bird's nest of power lines hovering above your head, or the growls I'm hearing from Yogi Bear, wanting his fur back.

Getting there- I'd probably look into wider collar-points and longer jackets. The jacket itself looks like an orphaned suit-jacket- softer shoulders and patch pockets generally look more casual for odd-pents.

Thank you very much. Appreciate your kind words. Wore it to work yesterday where i received a fair bit of compliments. i thoroughly enjoyed wearing it :)

Your co-workers have good taste. Who's your tailor? A lot of others could learn from him/her!
