I knew there was a reason not to like them.
I generally don't pay much attention to tradition, but I'm still probably influenced by them on an unconscious level. I've never read anywhere that peak lapels on an SB were more formal, but they've always felt that way. Perhaps because we tend to see them on tuxedos more than anywhere else. It also might be that peak lapels are just more dramatic.
Anyway, I've been getting a lot of wear out of a recent acquisition, around once a week (generally, I try to get my jackets worn 2-3 times a month, though any current favorites are likely to get 3-4 times a month). Peak lapel, single breasted. And I think it works better with slightly more....severe...looks than it does with my more normal casual fare.
