Love the vest front, all puckered and rolled.

At first glance the roll of the shirt collar looks like a button down. Personally, I would tame the roll some with soft stays/bones. Not board straight, somewhere in between.

Hmm, I agree it looks contradictory on my part, but, while the PS is bright, it isn't neon-bright. I think the bold colour helps add something to his fit which would be lost, if he had used a more traditional colour (not saying a trad look would be bad or even worse, but the splash of a bold colour makes it more contemporary and intriguing, IMO). There are lots of alternatives he could have tried, but purple is a great colour against that Tweed-ish grey (subjectively and objectively). The neon-ness I'm talking about is more often seen, when someone posts a CBD, navy suit and black tie paired with a neon-turquoise PS.

Thanks for all your thoughts, gentlemen. This is certainly an interesting conversation.

FWIW here's a full shot where you can see that the hank is more subdued IRL. Perhaps the shoes could be darker, but I thought they offset my pale hands quite nicely.

In my personal opinion, one of the few times that type and colour of shoe shines and doesn't look dorky. Just try an orange tie, and I think it will look great with the shoes. [IMG]

Ah yes, this looks just about perfect! Including the choice of footwear. And background![IMG]

    Second the orange tie suggestion...

Sorry, not clear enough... I meant brighter orange, perhaps a bit like this:

I'm a big fan of low contrast, so naturally, I like it a lot.

Thought about that, but then it would be too close to the color of the shoes.

However, my face is more or less that color of burnt umber.

Yeah, you're right about the shoes then. Should probably be darker in that scenario. Choices, choices...

Thanks, it is my favourite. A random vintage thing picked up from Ebay.

Serious question: Why can't the hank be the element that draws the most attention? And don't say because it draws attention away from the face, because that's nonsense.
